Historic Fishing Villages - "Local Hero" was filmed at Banff & Pennan on the East coast; Macduff has the working harbour including the traditional boat building yards; Portsoy has a restored harbour and buildings now home to an annual international boat festival; Banff Harbour is the starting point for the Banff to Stavanger yacht race held each summer.

Duff House is located at the edge of the town, adjoining the golf course. The historic mansion, designed by William Adam in 1735, is now home to Historic Scotland Galleries which exhibit three floors of Scottish Art. A coffee shop and gift shop are located in the basement.

A multi-million pound sea-life centre opened in 1997 next to Macduff Harbour. It has one of the largest water tanks in Europe showing the marine life of the Moray Firth. Up the coast at Findochty boat trips are available to take you out to see the Bottlenose Dolphins in the Moray Firth.
Banff and Macduff have a number of hotels serving both lunchtime and evening meals.
